Beautiful fall is here in full force here in the North West and I couldn't be happier! I truly am a fall girl at heart. With all the colorful leaves starting to fall and the cooler days blowing in, I really see all the seasons changes as a time for reflection.
It has been just over a year since I started Jackie Steinke Photography and since my very first paid shoot, this hobby turned business has seen many changes of its own.
One of the reasons I started Jackie Steinke Photography is to have the opportunity to give back to the community. I fully believe in "Doing well by doing good" meaning that they type of energy you put out into the universe you will receive back in excess. That doesn't mean I started volunteering because I knew that it would make my business grow-quite the contrary. In fact, I didn't start Jackie Steinke Photography to be a business at all. This business that grew out of a little hobby did however start to thrive out of a few good deeds that kicked off the start of a legitimate business.
This past year I have done over 15, unpaid photography jobs; both for charity and for individuals. I love the opportunity to not only give back to the community but to also give photos to those who may not be able to afford it, or even just spoil friends and family I really care about. There is no greater feeling than making someone's day by providing them lifelong memories of photos of their loved ones. And while I didn't set out for volunteerism to be the driving force behind the growth of my business, it sure hasn't hurt it at all.
In fact, one of the first "free" jobs I did almost a year ago to the date was for a beautiful young lady who's single mother hadn't had photos of her daughter in a while. That job turned into a paid job when the mother then called me for Christmas photos. Those Christmas photos then turned into my first wedding I shot over the summer.
This is just a small example of how helping others has helped my business. I encourage you as we enter the season of giving to consider giving back to those around you. What talents do you possess that can help brighten ones day? Give freely with an open heart and you will see many blessings come into your life in many ways-maybe even through the growth of your own business!
I leave you with some of my favorite images of fall.
